DECEMBER 8, 2005
This first section was written by Walter Conner. Walt is Bryan ’s general manager who was with Bryan when Pat called him at work on December 8th, 2005.

On Thursday December 8th at 3:00pm Bryan entered our weekly staff meeting without his cell phone. You see, Bryan knew that Pat was going to have the babies on Tuesday the 13th because that is what the doctor said was going to happen. In Bryan’s world everything has a schedule and no way were his kids going to surprise him. After both his cell phone had rung twice as well as his office phone; Holly went to look to see who called his cell. When she noticed it was Pat she came to the meeting to inform Bryan that he had better call his wife. We went back to the meeting as Bryan listened to his messages. He heard Pat upset and something about blood pressure up and babies coming now when Bryan snapped!!!!! He went running out of his office and towards the staff meeting. We heard what sounded like buffalo coming towards the room only to see our hero Bryan burst into the room. “I’m GOING TO BE A DAD NOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!” “PAT’S GOING TO HAVE THE BABIES NOW AND I’M GOING TO MISS IT!!!!!” While he was yelling this his eyes were wide open and PANIC was in full play. He got all of his things and ran out of the building. We watched it on our security cameras since and it is funny!!!! We all looked at each other and the concern was that Bryan would drive so fast that he would lose control. I called him and he was ok yet yelling about how I-95 was a parking lot. I told him to relax that they would wait till he made it to the hospital (I did not know this for sure) before they would let Pat deliver. Well, all turned out fine but Bryan was funny that day. When he called me Thursday night to say he was a Dad you could hear it in his voice how happy he was.

Jack Betzal, Sr. picks up the story from here…..

As I was parking my car the Riddle Hospital parking lot I turned my head and saw a guy who looked liked he was doing the 100 yard dash running towards the hospital. I yelled “Bryan” and he stopped, looked around for a brief second and then continued running towards the front doors of the hospital. Bryan runs pretty well for a big guy.

Bryan finally made it to Pat’s room and was there in time for the delivery of Colin and Erin.

The avian flu (bird flu) outbreak scare is on the minds of many Americans. More than 125 people have been infected with the avian flu strain in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. About half of those have died. The flu has spread rapidly among birds, first in Southeast Asia and more recently in Europe. However, human cases have only been reported in Asia thus far. The United States is preparing for a possible epidemic in the states that could potentially kill millions of humans.

Philadelphia Sports:
Flyers -
This is their first year with future hall of famer Peter Forsberg. Tonight they lost 3-2 to the Edmonton Oilers and let up 2 short handed goals. Many have picked the Flyers to win the Stanley Cup this year; they haven’t won it since 1974. There was not a 2004-2005 season due to the player’s union strike.

Eagles Well, they just suck this year. They looked great last season but lost in the Super Bowl in February 2005 to the N.E. Patriots. The fans expected another trip to the Super Bowl (in Detroit) this season, this time with a win. Andy Reid’s Birds are in last place, lost this past Monday night at home to the Seahawks 42-0 and will not make the playoffs this year. Star wide receiver Terrell Owens was suspended by the Eagles in October because he is a jackass. He was not invited to play the remaining 5 games of the season after his 4 game suspension. QB Donavan McNabb had surgery two weeks ago to repair a sports hernia and there are numerous other starters that are out for the year with injuries.

Howard replaced injured star Jim Thome at first base and led all rookies with 22 home runs. He received 19 of 32 first-place votes and 109 points to beat out Houston Astros outfielder Willy Taveras. The Fighting Phils have not made the playoffs since 1993 when they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series.

Sixers Chris Weber and Allen Iverson are tearing up the court these days under new head coach and former Sixer Maurice Cheeks. Unfortunately the team defense needs a lot of work and their record is currently 8-11. They are one game out of first place.

The December Birthstone is Turquoise (Prosperity)

2005 is the Chinese Year of The Rooster

The twins will start kindergarten in 2011, be old enough to drive a car in 2021, finish high school in 2024, and will graduate from college with the class of 2028 (give or take a year).

Erin and Colin's Astrological Sign is Sagittarius - That happy-go-lucky child in the play circle is bound to be a Sagittarius. These carefree tykes march to their own drummer, and yes, they will walk early! They'll also be beating a path to everywhere, since they love to explore. Independent and free-spirited, it's imperative that the Sagittarius baby have lots of room to roam. Confined spaces are a disaster for these wandering souls, so they'll simply flail about until they can get out. The good news in all this is that the Sag baby won't have to be entertained every second of the day. That said, be sure to keep tabs on them in public places, as they could easily wander away! Above all, the Sag baby loves to explore, whether it's a new toy or a new friend. No fear here! This kid is a sponge, soaking it all up with relish. Thankfully, this child will know how to make friends and can be counted on to have lots of them. They love being part of a group, whether it's at home or out in the big, brave world. And it's that world they want to see, which may be why it's so easy for this baby to hit the road. Whether by train, plane, or the high seas, the Sag baby will travel better than the rest. To sum up, the Sagittarius baby needs freedom, has a curious mind, and is forever on a journey of discovery. Happy trails!

Lastly... Uncle Stan Karpinski won the baby pool narrowly edging out Jill Treude, Greg Treude, Jen Wheeler, Tara Bonsall, Pickles, and grandfather Betzal. ALL that money was then geneously donated to the Treude diaper fund. Thanks Uncle Stan!
